About Debris Services
Debris Services is part of our Support Services division and officially came into existence in 2020. While we’ve had the safety gear and equipment to do this work for over a decade, the need didn’t truly arise until then. In 2020, we quickly made up for lost time and have continued expanding our efforts, with some jobs still pending once our COVID-19 response fully concludes.
Our debris response teams include trained volunteers, heavy equipment operators, and certified drone pilots who provide aerial damage assessments. We often work alongside larger disaster response organizations, providing critical manpower and support during complex operations.
Most recently, following Hurricane Helene, in partnership with United Way of the Piedmont, Rebuilding Together Spartanburg, and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, we gathered debris and damage data from the community and coordinated three weeks of job operations with AmeriCorps and two weeks with Team Rubicon. These collaborative missions played a key role in helping our community begin to recover, and we have many more partnerships ahead to continue returning our neighborhoods to normal.
So far, our Debris team has been requested for numerous missions, and the list keeps growing. See the official activation list below:
